Each school will elect up to 6 parent and 2 community representatives in addition to teachers and staff. Local School Councils are responsible for:
- Approving the school based academic plan (CIWP)
- Approving the alignment of budgetary resources to the CIWP
- Engaging in the annual evaluation of contract principal’s professional practices
- Selecting or renewing contract principals
- Making decisions about the continued use of School Resource Officers (police officers in schools)
Voting is in person from 7AM – 7PM with 2 forms of ID. You do not need to be a US Citizen to vote.

So far we have reached out to 14 local schools and received RSVPs from Brenneman, Courtenay and Uplift (which has an appointed council but will give a community update.) We will continue to accept RSVPs until the event.
