The 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon is this Sunday, October 13th. More than 40,000 runners will be racing through the streets of Chicago as they make their way to the finish line of one of the premier running events in the world. (See map of Marathon in Lake View below.)
The field of runners is STRONG and if weather conditions are good, we might see a World Record broken. Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge smashed the old marathon world record by clocking a time of two hours one minute 39 seconds in the 2018 Berlin Marathon.. The running world is awaiting a 2 hour Marathon, possibly in Chicago.
Lake View streets along the Marathon Route will be cleared of all parked vehicles starting at 1 AM. Vehicles towed will be taken to a City auto pound. For inquiries about towed vehicles, call 311 or use the city of Chicago website. It will cost, at minimum, $170.00 to retrieve a vehicle.
No traffic will be permitted on Lake View Marathon Route Street between 7 AM and possibly Noon (Noon is estimated) It may not be possible to even walk across the street during much of the Marathon.
As in 2018 and past years , the one block strip of Inner Lake Shore Drive in front of 3180 Lake Shore will become a TWO-WAY STREET under the supervision of Chicago Police the morning of the marathon. This will allow cars approaching from south of Belmont to enter outer Lake Shore Drive all morning.
More info is available at the Marathon’s website – https://www.chicagomarathon.com/ and at the 44th and 46th Ward websites.
