Dear John,

In the past few days, there have been several rumors in the press regarding the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field - - from name changes, more night games, concerts and zoning changes.

Wrigley Neighborhood Protection Ordinance

Space Park VolunteersIn 2004, LVCC and the neighborhood branches worked with the Cubs and City Officials to create the Neighborhood Protection Ordinance.

This Ordinance has been functioning very effectively.   The Cubs have gone over and above to ensure our neighborhood is clean and safe before, during and after Cubs games.

The Ordinance cannot be changed without a vote by the entire City Council.  The Ordinance is in effect until December 31, 2015.   Until then, we feel there is no reason to start renegotiating with the current Cub owners and then again perhaps with new owners after a sale.

With regards to concerts at Wrigley, we asked your input through the LVCC survey process.  You were pleased with the way the concerts were conducted.   We have asked Alderman Tunney on several occasions to codify the agreements with the Cubs over concerts in a five-year Ordinance.   We still believe there should be an Ordinance with specific protections to the neighborhood with only one concert series a year.   The details of our proposed Ordinance are posted on our website.
Our interests are your interests.   We continue to protect our neighborhood and keep it safe and sound.   For more information, we encourage you to attend your neighborhood branch meeting in March.   A complete branch meeting schedule is on our website.

Sincerely,
Lake View Citizens' Council
