Multiple Events in Lake View This Weekend

There are multiple events in Lake View this weekend impacting traffic and parking in our area.   The Chicago Cubs play today (and hopefully tomorrrow) plus the Chicago Marathon runs through Lake View early tomorrow morning.   See below for further details.

John

CHICAGO CUBS vs. ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS - WRIGLEY FIELD

Game 3: Saturday, October 6 at 5:00 p.m.  Gates open: 3:00 p.m

Game 4 (if needed): Sunday, October 7 at noon (Gates open: 10:00 a.m.)

STREET CLOSURES

Expect Addison, Waveland and Clark street closures after the games.  No traffic is allowed after the game on Addison from Clark to Halsted to allow traffic out of the area.

On Sunday (if Game 4 is played) expect Addison to be closed prior to the game until the beginning of the game at noon. On Sunday (if game 4 is played), due to the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, Belmont is closed Sunday morning; however, it is expected to reopen by 11:00 a.m.

BIKE CHECK

The Chicago Cubs offer a free bicycle check service for all Cubs home games. Racks are located off of Waveland Avenue at the car wash located adjacent to Wrigley Field. Bicycles are claim checked and secured during the game. The bike check service opens two hours prior to each game's scheduled start time and closes one hour after the game ends.

ALTERNATE ROUTES & TRAFFIC CONTROL

Exit Lake Shore Drive at Irving Park or Montrose to avoid Marathon closures and additional traffic in the area. Additional variable message boards are deployed in the area to assist motorists with closures and traffic detours.

Expect helicopter activity in the area, especially on Sunday for the Marathon. Additional Traffic Control Aides will be deployed on Addison, Irving Park Road & Montrose.   If coming from the west to Wrigley Field, use Ashland to Irving, Addison or Montrose.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

CTA provides additional service on the Red and Brown Line, with additional trains & more frequent service.  The CTA Red Line provides direct service to Wrigley Field via the accessible station at Addison.  Fans can transfer to Red Line trains from all other rail lines and from most east-west bus routes.  See the CTA website at www.transitchicago.com for more details on reroutes & service.

PARKING

Parking is extremely limited in the Wrigleyville area, with additional street parking restrictions for the Marathon on Sunday as well as additional restrictions due to increased crowds and traffic for play-off games.

The Cubs operate a shuttle and parking service at the DeVry University campus located off Addison Street and Western Avenue for all weekend and night games. For $6.00 you can park your vehicle and all occupants ride the shuttle free to and from the ballpark. For more information, see the Cubs website at www.chicagocubs.com.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Parking restrictions will be enforced in the area. Additional tow trucks are assigned to tow illegally parked vehicles. Fans and residents are strongly urged to read signage before parking and adhere to restrictions. Residential parking restrictions are in effect in the area. Through late January 2008, at the northbound lower level of Lake Shore Drive from just north of lower Wacker Drive to Illinois Street, there will be temporary lane closures to accommodate the construction of two new vehicular ramps, as part of the Chicago Spire development.
