Dear John,
 
Have you checked out the progress we've made on our community park at 815-817 W Roscoe?  Thanks to the two dozen plus volunteers who helped clean-up the park this past Saturday!  A special thanks goes to YCL and Charlotte Newfeld for bringing several volunteers.
 
We're not done; we hope to see you at our second Space Park clean-up on this Saturday, September 29th at 11AM.  We will be clearing the debris, planting perennials from the City's Clean & Green, and hopefully applying some mulch.
 
The next step is the brick wall fence.  We are applying for the necessary permits and hope to break ground soon.  Our next fundraiser is the upcoming Halloween Parade.  If you're interested in sponsoring the parade or being a food/drink vendor, let us know.

Halloween Parade 2007

Dragons will descend on north Halsted Street Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at 7PM.  You'll see wizards, witches and dragons at the 11th Annual North Halsted Costume Parade sponored by Northalsted Area Merchants Association.  This year's presenting sponsor is Caribou Coffee.
 
We picked this year's theme, "Fire Breathin," after securing several dragons.  The iconic annual parade is always guaranteed to be one of the city's most outrageous and imaginative Halloween celebrations.
 
There's free registration for the costume contest and marching in the parade with categories for children, pets, adults and groups (5:30PM - 7PM at Spin - 800 W Belmont).  Winners of the costume contest will be announced immediately after the parade on the main stage located at Halsted and Roscoe.
 
Thousands are expected to either participate in or view the parade which has grown to become one of the Chicago area's must-attend Halloween events.  The parade draws a broad mix of area residents, including children and families.
 
There will be over $5,000 in costume contest cash and prizes, including airline tickets for two.  There will also be post-parade musical entertainment on the main stage.
 
Donations and net proceeds from the parade sponsors go to the building of our community park. To get involved in the planning of this event, come to our next planning meeting on Wednesday, September 26th at 7PM at Roscoe's. Volunteers and sponsors welcome.

Sep 25 - Town Hall Meeting with State Officials
Join Illinois Senator John Cullerton and Illinois Representative Sara Feigenholtz at a Town Hall meeting at the Center on Halsted Auditorium (3656 N Halsted).  6PM - 8PM.
 
Food and drink at Murphy's Bar (3655 N Sheffield).  $20-$25 with proceeds benefiting six local charities. 3PM - 7PM.
 
Oct 2 - LVCC's An Evening on the Lake
Join your neighbors for a 3-hour cruise on Lake Michigan.  Complimentary food and drink and musical entertainment.  Raffle prizes including a pair of tickets on American Airlines.  Triangle Neighbors can get a special deal of two tickets for $100 in advance.  7PM - 10PM.
 
Oct 6 - Free Breast Cancer Screening
Illinois Advocate Masonic Hospital.  Seminar and clinical examinations.  836 W Wellington.  9AM - 1PM.
 
Oct 7 - LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon
Once again the Chicago marathon will visit Lake View as it runs on Sheridan, Addison and Broadway.  Traffic will be closed until 11AM.
 
Oct 10 - LVCC Personal Safety Seminar
Illinois Advocate Masonic Hospital.  Personal safety tips and Q&A session.  836 W Wellington.  Olsen Auditorium. 7PM - 9PM.
 
Oct 18 - 4th Annual Anti-Violence Vigil
Gather to remember LGBT victims and survivors of violent crimes.  Community activists will speak on the topics of sexual assault, domestic violence, hate violence, and youth relations.  Center on Halsted, 5:30PM-7PM.
 
Oct 19 - Art View in Lakeview Trolley Tour
Complimentary trolley enables you to visit several galleries in Lake View.
 
Oct 28 - LVECC Halloween Hoopla
Hayrides, games, face painting and more!
 
Oct 31 - 11th Annual Northalsted Halloween Parade
Free registration at Belmont / Halsted for adults, couples, groups, kids and pets.
