SPRING CLEAN AND GREEN - MAY 2007
Thanks to the dozens of volunteers who came out
on Saturday, May 5th to clean up our park. In a couple
hours, we literally transformed the two lots to a blank
canvas.
Thanks to the Lake View Chamber of Commerce for
co-sponsoring the event and supplying us with Ann Sather's
Cinnamon Rolls! | |

SPECIAL THANKS TO PATCH LANDSCAPING
We owe a special thanks to Neill and Patch
Landscaping. Neill Mansfield lives in Triangle on
Buckingham and is the general manager of Patch
Landscaping. Through his work with the Lake View Chamber
of Commerce, he learned of our desire to
clean-up 815-817 W Roscoe to prepare it for the design
phase. Neill brought three truck loads of volunteers,
tools, and supplies. His crew made quick work of
clearing all the weeds, leveling the ground, re-planting the
roses and butterfly bushes, and re-installing the
fence. He left us with several new customer
coupons that we will be passing out at Wednesday's
meeting.

SPACE PARK DESIGN PROPOSALS
Two landscaping companies have
submitted designs for our park based on the guidelines we sent
out and several more have indicated they will be submitting
something soon. The park will be a "community garden
park." For insurance purposes, it will not have any
children's play equipment, any water features, and pets will
not be allowed.
We'll be reviewing the proposed designs during our
meeting on Wednesday. |

ZONING CHANGES AND LICENSES REQUESTED
Time permitting, we will review some recent
zoning changes and new licenses requested by area
businesses and developers including:
- The formation of a 44th Ward Committee to develop
long-term planning for the area around Wrigley Field (given
recent proposals for large structures on Addison)
- The acquisition of "Pepper Lounge" on 3441 N Sheffield
- Korean BBQ Liquor License Request for 3463 N Clark
- Upzoning requested for 3532 N Halsted (currently
Brompton Auto Place)
- Proposed Hotel at 3473-3475 N Clark (restrictive
covenant was not enforceable and zoning change was denied by
Alderman)
