CTA
3-Track Service Reductions Begin
The
Brown Line expansion project moves into its
next phase (3-track operations) by
changing the direction of Purple Line in the downtown
area, closing both Southport and Wellington Stations, and
putting all trains (Red, Brown, and Purple) on one
track/platform at both Fullerton and Belmont "el" stops.
Initially the evening rush hour commute will be the most
impacted with schedule cuts. The CTA will decide if
April 2nd is the launch date this Friday (3/30). If it
launches on 4/2, watch for LVCC volunteers the first week of
April with petitions to the Mayor about the
CTA.

Dear
John,
Remember to tell your friends and
neighbors to sign up for our newsletter so they can
learn about neighborhood events (e.g. advance
neighborhood ticket sales to the upcoming The Police concert at Wrigley Field)
and receive a complimentary subcription to TimeOut Chicago when they pay
their annual dues. The second batch of
neighborhood tickets, for the Friday, July 6th concert,
goes on sale this Friday at 9AM CST. Tickets go on
sale to the public the following Monday.
In addition to the monthly Triangle
Tales newsletter, we encourage you to read the minutes from the last Triangle Neighbors
meeting on March 14th!
Finally, as noted below, "Cubs" parking stickers
(the round ones) for 2007 season are being
distributed. If you didn't get one, contact the
44th Ward office. The Cubs neighborhood parking
stickers are free to residents.

Space Park Design Phase
Now
that we have acquired both lots for our community garden
park (Space Park) at 815-817 W Roscoe Street, we are
entering the Design Phase. The Space Park
Committee recently met to establish guidelines for a
design contest for Space Park. The goal is to have
designs submitted by April 27th, preview the top designs
at our next Triangle Neighbors meeting on May 2nd, and
choose a winning design in mid-May after allowing for
public comments. Designs will need to take into
consideration several factors, including:
- Design implementation not
to generally exceed more than $250,000 in costs
(including labor) if was to be purchased at retail
prices,
- Overall design aesthetics
and flow of Space
Park,
- Providing a secure
structure on all four-sides,
- Maintaining existing trees
in park and in
parkway,
- Providing ADA
accessibility,
- Recommendation on location
of water sources,
- Recommendation on lighting
and electrical outlet locations,
and
- Materials to be used for
memorial wall and walking
paths.
The winning design will receive $1000 in
a cash prize plus be recognized on the Recognition
Wall with a large brick with the name of the
designer(s). If you are interested in submitting a
design, please contact triangle@lakeviewcitizens.org for
more details.
