Thanks to everyone who came out to last Wednesday's CAPS meeting - we had over 100 people.  As such, we want to make sure we have space for everyone at this Wednesday's Triangle Neighbor's meeting; we're going to meet again at Roscoe's (3356 N Halsted) this upcoming Wednesday, August 12th, 2009, from 7PM-8:30PM. 
 
We have a full agenda (below) but we promise to keep the meeting moving along at a quick pace.  We hope you can join us.

MEETING AGENDA 
  • CALL TO ORDER AND INTRODUCTIONS - Reminder to pay your 2009-'10 dues at the meeting or in advance online.  We will be joined by an aide from Congressman Mike Quigley's office, James Yoo.
  • APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM JULY TNA MEETING - Thanks to Harry Caray's for hosting us during our elections.
  • SPACE PARK - We are getting the plants this week and will need volunteers this upcoming weekend to help with the planting and mulching.  Assuming the weather's good, we'll be planting on Saturday from 11AM-3PM. 
  • HALLOWEEN PARADE - Our theme is chosen, "Mad Hatter's Ball".   
  • i-GO Car Sharing - Learn what's new about the car ownership alternative from our guest speaker, Richard Kosmacher
  • CHICAGO CUBS - What did you think about the three concerts at Wrigley?  We want to hear your feedback. 
  • LVCC UPDATES - We need volunteers to work the Beer Tent with Triangle Neighbors at the LVCC Music Fest on Sunday, August 23rd from 6PM-8PM.  (All Tips go to Triangle Neighbors!)
  • 44th WARD UPDATES - Talk about Crime and Safety in the neighborhood and what can be done to make our neighborhood safer. (Earlier on Wednesday you can stop by Ann Sather's to learn how to file a property tax appeal.)
  • ZONING  - Hear what's new with the Clark and Addison Planned Development proposal (30 min maximum).  They have reduced the height of the buildings, introduced set-backs on Clark to widen the sidewalk and made other compromises based on community input.
    • Note: no other zoning requests have been submitted so no other zoning business will be discussed at this meeting due to the volume of topics on the agenda

NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS

8/12 (Wed) Property Tax Appeal Seminar - We were all recently re-assessed and many of us had huge increases.  Learn how to file an appeal at this seminar.  Bring your assessment from 2PM to 8PM to Ann Sather's (909 W Belmont).  Stop in before you go to the Triangle Neighbor's meeting (now at Roscoe's instead of the LVCC Office).
 
8/14 (Fri) Community March to Take Back Halsted - Join Triangle Neighbors, Northalsted Area Merchants, the Alderman's Office and the 23rd District CAPS team as the community marches to take back Halsted Street from recent crimes and violence.  Meet at the 7-Eleven parking lot at Roscoe and Halsted at Midnight Friday night for a 1-hour show of solidarity with the Police. 
 
8/22 (Sat) CLMA Rhythm of the Night Show - For the fourth consecutive year, Central Lake View Merchants Association is bringing Broadway to Lake View with an acting, song and dance spectacular on stage featuring iO Theater Chicago, ComedySportz Chicago, Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Chicago Dance Crash, Chemically Imbalanced Theater, pH Productions, Theatre Building Chicago and a very special guest performance by Chicago's very own...The Chi-Lites, singing their world famous #1 smash hits  "Oh Girl"  and  "Have You Seen Her".  At Brixen Ivy Theater at 6:30PM.  Tickets available online.
 
8/22 (Sat) and 8/23 (Sun) LVCC Music Fest - The Lake View Music Fest offers continuous live music, tastings from area restaurants, and goods and wares from local merchants. The fest will be held on Sheffield (1000W) from Waveland to Addison (3600N) from 12N to 10PM each day.  The entrance donation be $5 until 5pm and then $7 after 5pm.  See the schedule.
