On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, over 200 residents and
business owners attended a community meeting at the Stadium
Club at Wrigley Field. The purpose of the meeting was to
learn about a proposed planned
development across the street from Wrigley
Field. A 'planned development' is a multi-year
process to get community input, and ultimately City Council
approval on, a large-scale construction project.
At this point in the process, we are gathering community
input on the plan as presented Wednesday and building
consensus on the topics of concern before another community
meeting. Nothing has been submitted to the Chicago
Planning Commission, the Department of Transportation, the
Zoning Commission or to the City Council. Before a planned
development can be built, all the aforementioned organizations
must approve the project.
LVCC has worked with
Alderman Tunney and the branch presidents of the local
neighborhood groups to prepare this 10-question
survey. The results of the survey will be posted on both
the 44th Ward and LVCC websites in late
February.
Neither LVCC, our branches, nor the Alderman's office has
endorsed the proposal. The proposal cannot be built
under current zoning. In contrast, the community has met
and approved a 5-story structure "Triangle Building" just
north of the proposal.
Your feedback is invaluable to us, and on behalf of
Alderman Tunney, we thank you in advance for your
help. As someone on the LVCC mailing list, you
will receive notice of future community meetings when they are
scheduled.
