E-Citizen Newsletter Serving Lake View Since 1952
March 2008

 LVCC LogoDear John,

Thanks to everyone who participated in our recent survey on the proposed Planned Development at Clark/Addison.   Almost 1,000 residents and business owners responded.  Unfortunately, the developer still has not provided us with a copy of their presentation for us to distribute and post on our website.

We're closely monitoring the discussions regarding Wrigley Field.  You can take our quick-poll on changing the name of Wrigley Field.   Representatives from the Chicago Cubs generally attend all LVCC branch meetings so we strongly encourage you to attend your branch meetings.

Later this week, look for a new survey on a free trolley service for Lake View - another service LVCC is hoping to bring to you.

Tell your friends the best way to stay informed about events in your neighborhood is to subscribe to our emails.   The twelve LVCC branches are there to represent you.

Proposed Planned Development
Community Input Meeting

The 44th Ward CDDC held a community input meeting to discuss a large-scale planned development on Addison from Clark to Sheffield. LVCC conducted a survey of local residents and businesses on the proposal and received almost 1,000 respones.  Read the results.

Broadway Dominick's
Construction Begins; Parking Limited

The good news is construction is about to begin on the former Dominicks' site on Broadway.  The bad news is the parking vendor at that site is changing their terms and fees - reducing to 40 total spots, none of which would be guaranteed to current monthly renters, and that the new rate for those 40 spots would jump from the current $128 per month up to $250 per month.  Attend the next SELVN Meeting for more details.

Cook County Tax Increase

Most everything you buy will soon cost a little more.  Cook County approved a 1% increase in sales tax beginning this fall.   This is in addition to the 0.25% increase for April to cover mass transit.
Liquor License Fact Sheet
New 2007 Ordinance

Are you concerned about a new liquor license or do you wonder what is involved in issuing one?  Learn more about the Deleterious Impact - Public Nuisance Ordinance that took effect April 2007.  Get the facts.

Crime in Lake View
23rd District Year-over-Year

Crime and neighborhood safety was a major concern for residents and businesses this past year according to a LVCC survey.  The 23rd District (east of Clark) has released a report showing year-over-year statistics.  Read the City's report.

CTA Three-Track
The Next Phase

Eight-car operation begins on the Brown Line on Sunday, March 30th - eighteen months earlier than originally planned.  The expansion of the "El" platforms to accomodate eight cars is one of the primary goals of the Brown Line Capacity Expansion Project.

As a part of the ongoing project, the next phase of three track operation also begins on Sunday, March 30th.  Southbound trains will be limited to one southbound track between Belmont and Fullerton. Read the CTA Press Release.
