E-Citizen Newsletter Serving Lake View Since 1952
April 2009

 LVCC LogoDear John,

Spring is finally here - albeit not as quickly as some of us may have hoped.  But that means the LVCC Annual Meeting (May 18th), Cubs night games (beginning April 19th) and other events are right around the corner.  Read below to stay informed of what's happening in Lake View!

Our condolenses go out to the family and friends of Peter Donoghue, a former President of LVCC from 1996-'98, who passed away last week.

Finally, as a reminder, don't forget to vote in Tuesday's (tomorrow's) election for the vacated U.S. 5th District Congressional seat.  Vote in your regular polling place between 6AM and 7PM.

Don't forget all these events and much more is listed on LVCC's calendar of programming and events for the neighborhood.
John

Register Your Dog Online
City Launches New Feature

Owners of the more than 100,000 dogs in Chicago now have the convenience of registering their dog online thanks to the City's ongoing office modernization initiative.  The innovative peel and stick license stands up to  weather conditions and is simply applied to the back of your dog's rabies tag. The sticker includes your dog's registration number and a number someone can call to report your dog found should you become separated.

Reuniting you with your lost pet is just one of the many benefits of registering your dog. In addition, a city dog registration also is required when taking your dog to an animal care facility that boards or provides dog day care services and is used to obtain the required permit and tag to access Chicago Park District dog friendly areas. A dog license tag is $5 for neutered dogs or $50 for unneutered.

For more information or to purchase your dog license, visit the Dog Registration page on the City Clerk's Web site here.

Capital Funding Forum
April 16 at 6PM at Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital

Join our elected state officials (including Sara Feigenholtz and John Fritchey) in a Capital Hearing to discuss the region's transportation, infrastructure and economic needs on Thursday, April 16th at 6PM in the Olson Auditorium of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (836 W Wellington).

The purpose of this event is to determine public support for the passage of a capital bill.  The intent is to take testimony from local elected officials, labor and business and community leaders, to hear your thoughts on what are the most important transportation funding priorities in this region of the state, and the proper scope of a statewide capital construction bill.
