Get Involved LVCC
Elections May 2008In
preparation for our annual LVCC meeting to be held on May 8, 2008,
the LVCC Nominating Committee is requesting any interested
candidates who reside in Lake View and desire to serve as LVCC
president or as a LVCC Board Member-at-large to contact the
nominating committee
directly by March 16, 2008.
Additional nominations may be made by presenting to a written
petition to the LVCC Secretary, prior to May 1st.

CTA Construction: Diversey Parkway Closed This Weekend
On
Sat/Sun March 8-9 from 5:30AM to 6PM each day, Diversey Parkway will
be closed from Sheffield to Wilton. Parking lanes and one
sidewalk will also be closed as the CTA works on the Diversey
station. A reminder that Wellington and Paulina stations close
March

Results of LVCC Poll
Almost 200 people took our quick survey on "Would
you support the Chicago Cubs if the name of Wrigley Field
changed". The results:

State Budget

As the
General Assembly begins its spring legislative session, Illinois
faces serious budget challenges. Lawmakers and the
governor will have to make difficult decisions to close a deficit
that fiscal experts project to be at least $750 million for the
current budget year before turning their attention to the next
fiscal year that begins July 1.
You're invited to participant in a Regional Budget
Hearing on March 27 at Advocate Illinois Masonic (836 W
Wellington) to share your views about what the state's funding
priorities should
be.

Meter Appointments
Automated Meter
Reading (AMR) Attention Building Owners in the 44th Ward. You will
soon be contacted, if you haven't already, to set up an appointment
with the Chicago Department of Water Management. This is a
FREE, but mandatory program to
install a new water meter
device. |
Senior Ride Free Program Beginning March 17, 2008As a
part of the Regional Transit budget agreement, senior citizens
living will be eligible for free transit on fixed routes operated by
the Chicago Transit Authority, Metra, and Pace beginning on March
17, 2008. To take advantage of the free transit, seniors must have
the senior reduced fare card. If you already have the reduced fare
card, you are already registered. Your fare card will work on March
17th to allow you to take transit for free. If you do not have a
reduced fare card, please call the RTA at 312-836-700 to get
information about the nearest RTA Customer Service
Center.
