Halloween festivities continue this weekend with events at Agassiz School, sponsored by CLVN (Saturday 10AM -1PM) and LVECC's event at Nettlehorst School -- Halloween Hoopla (Sunday 12N-3PM). And for Halloween safety tips, check out this guide from the Chicago Police Department.

Maybe the most anticipated event is Triangle Neighbor's 12th Annual Northalsted Halloween Parade presented by Effen Vodka and Northalsted Area Merchants Association on Friday, October 31st at 7PM. There are thousands of dollars in prizes for kids, pets, adults and groups.

To participate in the parade, you must sign up before 6:45PM. Free registration at Spin (800 W Belmont) begins at 5:30PM on Halloween. Adults must have a photo ID with them to register. Kids and Pets register behind Spin. Everyone who wants to march in the parade is required to register BEFORE the parade.

The parade kicks off Halloween night at 7:00PM and marches from Melrose to Brompton on Halsted. Halsted will be closed to traffic from Belmont to Addison approximately 6:00PM to 9:30PM. Roscoe will be closed to thru traffic earlier in the afternoon for the stage and tent set up. Side streets (Melrose, Aldine, Buckingham, Roscoe, Newport, Cornelia, and Brompton) will also be blocked during the parade itself to thru traffic.

Costume categories include:

Kids - Most Orginal Costume, Scariest Costume, and Most Adorable Costume (every kid who participates receives a prize 'treat')
Pets - Best Pet Costume
Adults - Best Drag Outfit, Most Original, Best Costume tied to our theme ("Rats"), and Best Adult (Other)
Best Couple and Best Group - Costume
Overall Winner - In addition to prizes for the individual categories, receives $500 cash

The parade will also features lots of Rats, the Chicago Spirit Brigade, fire performers and more. Right after the parade, join our emcee, Miss Foozie, at our Roscoe stage as we annouce the winners. Winners will be chosen by audience applause so bring your friends to cheer you on. Each winner receives gift certificates and other prizes from local businesses.
