Dear Neighbors,
I want to address the recent violent crime within
our community.
Safety is a top
concern of our office. I am in continual contact
with Commander John Kenny in the 19th District to follow
up on the investigation.
I have requested
increased foot and bike patrols between the hours of
11pm - 5am on our commercial and residential
streets. I also recently walked a midnight shift
with Police Superintendent Jody Weis to illustrate the
need for more resources in the 44th Ward. A plan
of action is in the works.
I will follow up as we
have more information.
Sincerely,
Alderman Tom
Tunney

Safety
in the 44th Ward
Due to recent
robberies, the Chicago Police Department is alerting the
residents of the Lakeview area to be cautious as you are
travelling to and from your destinations.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
· Walk in open areas. If possible, travel
in groups.
· Do not take shortcuts through
alleys or heavily shrouded areas.
· Be aware of
your surroundings at all times.
· If you are out
late at night, limit your use of cell phones and/or
playing devices that would block your ability to hear
your surroundings.
· If you are going to be out
late, try to prepare for your return home: No flashy
large purses or accessories exposed. Try to insure that
you will not be a target simply by what you wear.
· If you have any information concerning your
safety and/or your neighbors contact the Chicago Police
Department with detailed description of offender and
direction of flight.
