Dear
Neighbors,
I hope you have been enjoying the recent gorgeous
fall weather.
We are in the middle of hearings
for the City's 2010 Budget. For the past two
weeks, I have been at City Council reviewing the
proposed budget and questioning the department heads
about their programs. Nearly all city employees will be
facing 24 furlough days, including our office. I
will update you with more information as we move closer
to the date when we vote.
Our office will be closed on
Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans' Day. We will
reopen on Thursday, November 12.
Sincerely,
Alderman Tom
Tunney

Street
Cleaning and Lawn Refuse Bagging
As the leaves fall from the trees and rainy
weather continues, it is important to make sure our
streets and sewers are removed of debris. We are
also nearing the point when street cleaning will be
ended for the year. Please be sure to note when
street cleaning is taking place in your area and be
certain to relocate your car on those days. You
can find your street's schedule by clicking on the
following link to the 44th Ward website: 44th
Ward Street Cleaning Schedule
Collecting and bagging leaves also leaves curbs and
gutters clear. You can help prevent a
build-up of leaves by bagging your leaves and leaving
them in a lawn bag by your blue carts. Small
amounts of leaves in bags can be placed directly into
the blue carts. Lawn bags are available at all
hardware stores - paper bags are recyclable.
Your assistance is greatly
appreciated.
