In honor of Earth Day, we have environmentally friendly CFL light bulbs available in our office to residents of the 44th Ward until supplies run out. CFL bulbs: Use up to 66 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs Last up to 10 times longer Save above $30 in energy costs over the life of each energy star qualified CFL Contribute to a cleaner environment while saving energy, money and time Can be used in most incandescent fixtures already in a home The average household has about 40 incandescent light bulbs; if each of those bulbs was changed to a CFL, the household could save over $200 per year. On average, each CFL can prevent more that 450 pounds of green house gas emissions over its lifetime. Even making one of these changes makes a difference and let’s you be an example for your friends, family and neighbors. Art in the 44th Ward! Six new sculptures were installed in the 44th Ward as part of the Lincoln Park / Lakeview Community Art Initiative. Alderman Tunney has partnered with 43rd Ward Alderman Vi Daley’s annual sculpture program to bring mid to large size sculptures to our community. Below is a list of the pieces, artists, locations and sponsors. They will be in place for one year.
Lincoln Park / Lakeview Community Art Initiative is an annual juried competition where artists from the Chicago area compete to have their sculptures displayed throughout the 43rd and 44th Wards. Vi Daley launched the first ward-wide public sculpture program in 2001 to support local artists and beautify the community. “We are thrilled to partner with our neighbors to enhance this unique sculpture program and we look forward to the presence of these sculptures in our own neighborhood,” said Alderman Tunney. |
